Buffalo-based Hip Hop record label DeepThinka Records (DTR) announced today plans for the 3rd installment of the original compilation series Rebel Radio. The widely acclaimed mixes—the previous two editions having reached over 25,000 fans worldwide—is a free-to-the-public release and has boasted a wide variety of musical talents as well as chart topping radio singles.
This time around DeepThinka plans on taking it even further than before. Label President Tony Caferro commented “We dropped Rebel Radio 2 in 2005. After unprecedented growth in DeepThinka’s efforts, operation, and audience, we’ve decided that we need to bring Rebel Radio back, but that it would have to be bigger than ever. We’re expanding the artist base—inviting acts we’ve toured with, brought here to Buffalo, or met throughout our various efforts—to be part of the Rebel Radio Movement. In an era when internet marketing is slowly deteriorating, we’re creating fresh, original marketing strategies. We’re also taking advantage of the latest technology to produce a true-to-the-name mixtape, and we’re exploring new ways to bring our message to the masses”.
That message—the one unified thread amongst what will be over 30 musical artists on one release—is that of “a powerful testimonial to the ever enduring presence of change”. Each and every act selected to represent on the mixtape will be asked to represent change and present a message which contains some form of originality and innovation, whether it be musically, socially, locally, globally, politically, or culturally minded. To help bring all of these various talents together into a cohesive setting, DTR has enlisted one of the finest mix DJ’s the City of Buffalo has ever known: longtime veteran DJ Optimus Prime will be responsible not only for bringing a fresh new dynamic to the 3rd episode, but will also help in structuring the entire release as well.
If you are a hip hop artist interested in placing a track on the compilation, please consider the above theme and email a short mp3 clip (30 seconds) to rebelradio3@deepthinka.com.
